Naperville, IL., October 15, 2015 – Five executives from credit unions across the state are among the eight individuals who recently made a significant investment in their careers by successfully completing industry-specific certification programs. The certifications achieved by these staff members are as follows:
Certified CU Development Educators (CUDE): Sonia Woosley, Collections Manager, Streator Onized Credit Union. During this six-day total immersion experience facilitated by the National Credit Union Foundation, participants learn about credit unions’ social responsibility and domestic and international development through interactive education and professional networking.
Credit Union Compliance Experts (CUCE): Hope Garrett, CEO, Education Personnel FCU, Danville; Robert Hagglund, Compliance Manager, Healthcare Associates Credit Union, Naperville; Amanda Lowery, Compliance and BSA Officer, SIU Credit Union, Carbondale; and Julie Smith, Vice President of Risk Management, Vibrant
Credit Union, Moline. The CUCE designation helps credit union compliance professionals be recognized as an expert in their field and raise their compliance knowledge to new heights.
The most recent graduates also include Illinois Credit Union System staff members. They are: Naomi Anderson, Vice President of Operations, LSC, who earned her CUDE; as well as Joni Senkpeil, Vice President, Member Outreach, Illinois Credit Union League (ICUL); and Patrick Voss, Director of Strategic and Regulatory Services, ICUL; both of whom earned their CUCE and Certified Regulatory Vendor Program Manager (CRVPM) designations — with Senkpeil honored as Salutatorian for the CRVPM program. An increased regulatory focus on 3rd party oversight programs has created a growing demand for professionals with specialized expertise in building and managing compliant vendor management programs. The CRVPM course provides the regulatory knowledge, methodology and best practices required to build and manage a program.
In addition to the individuals honored above, several others were recognized in 2015 for achieving certifications:
CUDE: Ryan Neumann, Branch Supervisor, Streator Onized Credit Union; and Melanie Murphy, Director of Education, ICUL.
Credit Union Certified Executives (CCUE): Richard Bicanic, Vice President of Lending, GCS Credit Union; Kelly Eacker, Member Service Representative, Blackhawk Area Credit Union; and Lindsey Kramer, Loan Officer, Members First Community Credit Union, as well as Bill Cerwin, Manager of Insurance Services, LSC; and Rick Goluszka, Regional Director, ICUL. As part of the CUNA Management School, this three-year program provides credit union professionals with comprehensive information and practical skills for optimizing their credit union’s efforts. To receive their CCUE, a student must attend all three years of the program.
“The continued achievement of credit union certifications is testimony to the dedicated individuals who drive a strong credit union movement in our state,” said Tom Kane, ICUS CEO/President. “On behalf of the Illinois Credit Union System, I would like to congratulate all of our recipients on their perseverance and taking their industry
knowledge to the next level.”
