August 10, 2016: Naperville. To kick off August, the Illinois Credit union League once again had the pleasure of welcoming credit unions from all over the state to our Naperville, Illinois campus for the 2016 SAS (Small Asset Size) Credit Union Conference. This two-day event featured a variety of topics and presentations aimed to strengthen and aid our smaller credit unions in their mission to serve their communities and offer an alternative to big banks.
Presentations included everything from collections and cyber security, to field of membership, to new product and program demonstrations which added even more value for your members. In addition, a number of industry leaders from state and federal regulatory agencies along with Mike Schenk, Vice President of Economics and Statistics at CUNA, who presented on the State of the Economy, and how it is effecting small credit unions. The event also included a popular networking luncheon which provided a wonderful opportunity to meet with peers, discuss challenges, and share ideas and successes.
If you were unable to attend this year’s SAS Conference, we highly recommend you make plans to be here next year. The attendee evaluations are in and we are appreciative of, and a little overwhelmed by all the positive feedback. One reviewer summed up the SAS Conference best by commenting: “Excellent conference…topics were informative and interesting. I liked the fact that credit union well-being seemed to be at the heart of all subjects! Keeping us healthy, wealthy, and wise!”
