Congressman Hultgren visits Illinois Credit Union League office
Illinois Credit Union League was honored to host Congressman Randy Hultgren of the 14th Congressional District of Illinois in our Naperville office. Congressman Hultgren, an avid supporter of the credit union movement, discussed key credit union issues with ICUL leadership team and other credit union executives.
Reducing Credit Unions Regulatory Burden was an important issue discussed at the meeting. Credit unions operate in a heavily regulated financial industry and as such bear significant costs of regulation, the * financial impact on the cost of regulation for credit unions has increased substantially since the financial crisis and recession of 2008-2009 and more so for the small asset size credit unions (*according to a CUNA study). Protecting credit union members from merchant data breaches, payday alternatives loans and other topics were also deliberated upon.
The Illinois Credit Union League would also like to thank the credit union executives that participated in the meeting and shared the credit union difference with Congressman Hultgren. Credit unions positively impact lives not just of their members, but also the communities they serve.
