The very purpose of the Illinois Credit Union System is to support credit unions, here in Illinois and across the nation. It is imperative that we listen to our credit unions to identify our strengths that have reinforced your success, and areas where we can look to enhance our efforts. In 2015, two surveys were sent out: one to credit union members of the League, and another to customers of LSC.
The response rate was phenomenal. We received a 52% response rate for the ICUL survey, as well as an impressive 523 responses from LSC customers. Of those surveyed, 98% of credit union executives stated they were satisfied with ICUL — 70% said “very satisfied.” Also, 91% specifically stated ICUL helps not only their credit union be successful, but helps the entire credit union movement grow.
Those surveyed also stated that we represent credit unions’ views effectively, which remains a priority for ICUL and our Office of General Counsel. We are committed to powerful, effective advocacy for our credit unions, and it seems you agree, as 94% of credit unions surveyed ranked the work of ICUL’s Office of General Counsel as “very important.”
We are proud and honored by the overwhelmingly positive response we received in this survey. We are also well-aware of the challenges our credit unions currently face, as pointed out in the survey, and are already hard at work to address and help overcome them. Over the upcoming months, we will be delivering a series of emails inspired by this survey, highlighting areas where our credit unions cited these challenges along with our successes. From keeping up with technology, staying compliant, and fighting the rising tide of operational costs, just to name a few, the Illinois Credit Union League is here to support you, whatever it takes.
